Tips, Techniques & Tutorials
Thumping with Markers

Create a mulitcoloured effect with minimal fuss. For this example, I have used River Rock for the lightest, base colour, plus 2 markers (Pumpkin Pie and Chocolate Chip) for the 'thumping' accent.

Really~ this is all you need!

Step by Step

Step 1. Ink your image with your base or lightest colour ink. On this example,  I am using River Rock

Step 2. Grab your marker, and using the brush end (the end with the thick line for quick identification), 'thump' your stamp.  Just to get technical (not) I hold it two different ways, depending on how I'm feeling at the time.

Either way works for me!

I start with the lighter colour first and work up to the darker (in this case, Pumpkin Pie, then the chocolate chip) if you do it the other way, you will muddy your marker tips. Ensure you change the angle of the marker or the stamp as you 'thump' to ensure the colour is randomly distributed.

Step 3. Huff on your stamp before stamping to reinvigorate the ink then stamp your image.  It's that easy!

If you would like to see any of these techniques in more detail, why not book a workshop and we can try them all out?
